Your iPhone battery is a consumable component. Over time, its capacity and performance naturally decrease—but poor battery life does not always mean the battery needs immediate replacement.
Here are a few things every iPhone user should know:
1. Check your Battery Health
Go to:
Settings → Battery → Battery Health
Depending on your iPhone model and iOS version, you may see information about maximum capacity, performance capability, service recommendations and the battery installed in your phone.
A lower maximum capacity generally means the battery cannot hold as much energy as when it was new.
2. Watch for common battery symptoms
Consider having your battery checked if your iPhone:
• Needs charging much more often than before
• Shuts down unexpectedly even when charge remains
• Shows a battery service message
• Loses battery very quickly during normal use
• No longer lasts long enough for your everyday needs
3. Fast battery drain does not always mean a bad battery
Battery drain can also be influenced by:
• Background apps
• Weak mobile-network coverage
• High screen brightness
• Location services
• Software problems
• Charging accessories
• Charging-port problems
• Heavy gaming, navigation or video use
That is why proper diagnosis is useful before replacing parts.
4. Not every replacement battery is the same
Depending on your iPhone model, you may find different battery options:
New Genuine Apple Battery
A new original Apple battery where supported and available.
Genuine Used Apple Battery
An original Apple battery previously installed in another iPhone. Its existing condition and battery health should be considered.
Compatible Aftermarket Battery
A new third-party compatible battery. Quality, warranty and Battery Health reporting can vary between manufacturers and iPhone models.
Other refurbished or budget options may also exist.
Before choosing a battery, ask:
✅ Is it new, used or refurbished?
✅ Is it a genuine Apple part or aftermarket?
✅ What warranty is included?
✅ Will Battery Health information work normally?
✅ Could the iPhone show a parts-related message?
ℹ️ 5. Understand iPhone parts messages
After certain repairs, newer iPhones may display information under Parts and Service History.
Depending on the device and repair process, you may see terms such as:
Genuine – the iPhone recognises the supported genuine part and repair process.
Used – a genuine part has previously been installed in another iPhone.
Finish Repair – an available repair-completion process may still need to be completed.
Unknown – the iPhone cannot verify the part or detects another issue with it.
This does not automatically tell you whether a repair is physically working well, so always ask your repair provider what to expect before replacement.
🛠️ 6. Diagnosis should come before replacement
At Reilu PhoneFix, we inspect the device and discuss the available battery options before starting the repair.
We explain:
• Battery type
• Total repair price
• Availability
• Estimated repair time
• Warranty
• Expected Battery Health behaviour
• Possible parts messages
